The Indian team is in Australia for the past 3 months and has struggled in the test series against Aussies. They have been woeful in the tri series as well and it doesn’t look good heading towards the World Cup in February.
We look at the top 5 issues that India needs to solve before the Grand tournament.
Opening combination: India’s problem in the tri series has been their opening partnership; Shikhar Dhawan has failed badly. With Rahane being solid at the top, Dhawan must start looking to score runs in the match against England. His batting technique has been exposed badly and he needs to comeback with runs before the World Cup 2015.
Number 3 position: In the tri series so far Ambati Rayadu has been coming at number 3. This has given an idea that others can cope at the crucial spot. Virat Kohli has been in great form in the test series against Australia and he needs to play the majority of teh overs. The shots Ambati Rayadu have played is great cause of concern for the Indian team.
Bowling Combination: The Indian team must look at bowling combination. The fast bowlers have looked out of sorts and need to bowl well if India has to defendthe World Cup. Umesh Yadav, Shami, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Stuart Binny are the fast bowlers but Yadav has looked out of sorts. The Indian management must know which bowlers they should pick going into the World Cup 2015.
Spinning options: The Indian team has 3 spinners at the moment. Ravindra Jadeja coming out of an injury, Akshar Patel and R Ashwin. The spinners might have role to play in the world cup. Ravindra Jadeja is useful with bat and an excellent fielder. The best combination will be going with 2 spinners or if the pitches help the spinners go with 3 spinners. The Indian spinners have not been effective so far in the series so far.
Death Bowling: India’s death bowling has been a major concern for the team. They have been leaking runs in the last 10 over’s. MS Dhoni must know which bowlers he can for in the last 10 overs in the World Cup against stronger teams like South Africa, Australia. This series provides a chance for the team to look at the options for death bowling.
