India’s new Mr. Dependable proved his worth when he faced 525 balls against Australia in the third Test of this year’s Border-Gavaskar series. The right-handed batsman had scored 202 and led India’s strong reply after the team from Down Under posted 451 as the hosts scored a mammoth 603 for 9 (declared).
Australia were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 64 for 4 in the second innings but Shaun Marsh and Peter Handscomb scored fighting fifties to save the Test.
