Another memorable match between the two great rivals ended in a draw. After taking a huge lead of 246 runs in the first innings, India were looking all set to win the match after reducing New Zealand to 94 for 5 in the second innings. However, Brendon McCullum thwarted their hopes with one of the best Test innings ever played. From 94/5, McCullum crafted a brilliant fight back to leave the Indian team shell-shocked. Coming out to bat in the first session of day three with an innings defeat and a squandered series lead imminent, McCullum became the first Kiwi batsman to score a triple century in Test cricket.
