Batting first, the hosts scored a mammoth total of 503 runs with the help of century from Kane Williamson and double century from Brendon McCullum. New Zealand took the command of the match after dismissing the visitors for a paltry total of 202. However, the Indian bowlers brought India back into the match by dismissing the kiwis on only 105 runs. Chasing 407 runs, India were looking all set to chase down the improbable total when they were 222 for the loss of three wickets. But the dismissal of Virat Kohli opened the floodgates as the hosts were all out for 366 runs.
