JP Duminy’s inaugural match 99
In the inaugural night of the Champions League T20, Royal Challengers Bangalore set the stage on fire and posted a mammoth 180 on the board courtesy a brisk 51 from Robin Uthappa and a brutal 53 from Ross Taylor towards the end. In reply, Cape Cobras began slowly as the South African champions lost two quick wickets. Everything seemed like the match will go in favour of he hosts. But JP Duminy thought otherwise and denied the hosts a victory. Duminy showed no respite for the Bangalore bowlers and blasted them all over the park. He narrowluy missed out on a hundred as he remained not out on 99 off 52 balls when the match was already won by Cobras. His innings included 8 fours and 5 sixes.
Kieron Pollard’s 18 ball 54
New South Wales vs Trinidad and Tobago at Hyderabad, this match marked the birth and arrival of Kieron Pollard in the Twenty20 stage. When Trinidad and Tobago were down and out in the group stage match against NSW, Pollard took charge. 54 runs were needed in 18 balls and the Blues are favourites to win it from that stage but Pollard had other plans. Pollard started his brutal attack as he smashed each and every ball he faced to the boundaries, He was severe against Moises Henriques in his short but effective stay at the crease. He smashed five fours and five brutal sixes and took his side home. He scored an unbeaten 18-ball 54 and set the stadium on the previous night of Diwali.
CLT20’s Only Hat-Trick
Isuru Udana can be termed as a spinner who occasionally bowls fast, He is a member of the Wayamba Elevens side for the 2010 CLT20. After being knocked out of the tournament, Wayamba played Central Stags at Port Elizabeth. Chasing 145 to win, the Stags lost Jamie How in the second over and in the third over, Udana created history. With Brad Patton, he has Brad Patton caught behind by Kusal Perera and in the very next ball, Matthew Sinclair was found short of the crease against a widish delivery which was stumped by Perera. George Worker, who was facing the Hat-Trick ball saw his stumps crushed and with that Udane became the first and the only player to take a Hat-Trick in the CLT20, that too in 2 balls.
MS Dhoni 5 consecutive sixes
MS Dhoni came close to scoring six sixes in an over in a league game against Sun Risers Hyderabad at Ranchi. Facing Thisara Perera in the 18th over, Dhoni launched the first ball over the sight screen followed by a double. The remaining four deliveries went out of the park. One each over fineleg, backward point, long on and third man. Perera conceded 34 runs in the over that included a couple of wides.
Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid retiring in the same match
Indian stalwarts Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid announced their retirement from all forms of cricket after the 2013 CLT20. Both their former India teammates faced each other in the finals of the tournament, which is also their last official cricket match Sachin’s Mumbai Indians pipped Dravid’s Rajasthan in the finals.
