3. South Africa (August 2012-May 2014):
The South African team reached the top of Test cricket in 2012 in style as they defeated world number one side England 2-0 in an away series. The team comprising of Hashim Amla, AB De Villiers, Jacques Kallis, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn and led by Graeme Smith, is one of the finest Test teams of all time. The Proteas dominated the Test arena like no other team during that time and registered impressive away and home victories against the mighty Aussies. They also defeated India, New Zealand and Pakistan at home during that time. Their reign ended after losing a home series 2-1 against Australia.
