Kumar Sangakkara was the mainstay batsman of Sri Lanka team. The cornerstone of Sri Lanka had played around 500 international matches in his 15 years of career for the team. The former skipper had led the team to the finals of the World Cup in 2011 where the team lost. However, Sri Lanka won the World T20 in Bangladesh in April 2014.
The veteran player also holds the place with Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara to make quickest 10,000 runs in Test cricket. The left-hander scored five centuries and seven fifties in the World Cup history.
