Comin in as a replacement for Adam Milne, Joseph made his IPL debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad and recorded best-ever figures in the history of IPL by scalping six wickets for 12 runs, breaking Sohail Tanvir’s record which he created back in IPL 2008.

Joseph went wicketless in next two matches and was later ruled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury. He stayed in Mumbai and underwent his rehabilitation with the franchise. All this indicated that Mumbai Indians will be retaining the pacer but surprisingly, the franchise decided to release the pacer.
With the addition of Trent Bout, Mumbai Indians added yet another overseas pacer in their line-up and it is unlikely that they will bid for him.
