Indian Batsmen who carried the bat for India in Test matches
Cheteshwar Pujara by his unbeaten knock of 145 became the fourth Indian cricketer after Sunil Gavaskar, Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid to carry the bat in international cricket.
Pujara in the ongoing Test match between Sri Lanka saved India from the blushes as he steadied the ship for India along with Mishra putting along an excellent 8th wicket Partnership. Pujara who opened the innings in the absence of Murali Vijay made a strong statement to the selectors as he got India out of jail. Pujara stood solely at one end while wickets were falling in a heap at the other end. Pujara’s responsible knock has put India in a comfortable position in the third Test match.

Sunil Gavaskar’s 127* vs Pakistan:
Sunil Gavaskar carried the bat against Pakistan in 1983 at Faisalabad. Although, India went on to lose that Test match against Pakistan Sunil Gavaskar stood firm and made a solid 127 runs in the 3rd innings of the Test match. India was all out 286 in which Sunil Gavaskar was the major contributor.
Virender Sehwag’s 201* vs Sri Lanka:
Against Sri Lanka where rest of the batsman from India struggled against the Sri Lankan bowlers Sehwag looked absolutely solid in the crease and was taking the attack to the Sri Lankans. He remained unbeaten on 201 while Indian score card read 329. Later India went on to win the Test match and they levelled the series.
Rahul Dravid’s 146* vs England:
During the terrible tour of England in 2011 Dravid was the only batsman from India who looked tremendously solid against the swinging duke ball and countered the swinging conditions to perfection.
