The opening pair of Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden from Australia is way ahead of any other pair in the Top 10 list with 1220 runs in 20 innings. Both these devastating left-handed opening batsmen can are known for taking the attack to the bowling unit from the word go and that is one of the main reason for their success. Both together have put a highest stand of 172 runs

Second on the list is batting pair of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. Together they have scored 925 runs in 17 innings with highest stand of 153 runs.

The best of lot is from T Dilshan and Upul Tharanga, in just 9 innings they have scored 800 runs at an average of 100.00. Their partnership of 282 runs is also the highest first wicket partnership in Cricket World Cup.
