IPL 2017: Mumbai Indians Bowl First, Injured Krunal Makes Way For Karn Sharma
In a quest to continue their winning run, the home side Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided bowl first. They dealt an injury blow before the start of the game, as in-form player Krunal Panya got injured and was replaced by Karn Sharma, who was purchased by the franchise for a skyrocketing amount of 3.2 Crores.
It is the first game of the season for the leg-spinner. There was no place for Ambati Rayudu, who has now been deemed fit to participate in the game.
Rising Pune Supergiant did not tinker with the winning combination though. The last time they both faced each other in the league earlier, it was Pune side who snatched the game from the jaws of Mumbai.
Here is what captains of both the sides said at the toss –
“We would have bowled first as well. There is a bit of dew already and it’s gonna be tough later. Hopefully, we break that trend today. We bowled well in one game and batted well in the last game. It’ll be nice if both fall in place together. We have three home games after this, hopefully, we get on a roll. Same team or us.”
“We are gonna bowl first. That’s been the trend here. The dew comes later. Wicket looks dry and we have been pretty good chasing as well. Things have been falling in place. Guys have been executing plans really well To be able to defend 142 on this ground is never easy. That shows the character of our team. We executed really well. You have to come out and think you can chase down We’ve got one unfortunate injury to Krunal Pandya. Karn Sharma comes in.”
