Want to be a professional cricketer?
Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and decided to bowl first against Rising Pune Supergiant with two changes in the side.
Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile was surprisingly rested. Darren Bravo, who was purchased by the franchise for his base price 50 Lakhs was included, whereas, Piyush Chawla also made his way back in the team in place of out of touch batsman SuryaKumar Yadav.
KKR added a spinner to their side replacing a pacer, keeping in mind the tendency of Pune pitch to assist spinners.
The home side was forced to make one change, as Ben Stokes sat out due to a sore shoulder. Faf du Plessis, who has played only game in this year’s IPL replaced the all-rounder.
Here is what both the captains said at the time of the toss –
“Would have liked to bowl first, but need to make a good score and defend it. Three back-to-back matches here, need to make the most of the home conditions. Unfortunately, Ben Stokes has a sore shoulder and he’s sitting out. He’s replaced by Faf du Plessis. Rahul Tripathi can bowl a bit, might need to make use of him tonight.
“We will bowl first. The wicket will not change that much, will look to restrict them to a small score and chase it down. It was a professional performance from our last match, but that doesn’t happen all too often. Two changes for us, Darren Bravo and Piyush Chawla are in, Coulter-Nile is rested and Surya Kumar Yadav misses out.
