Want to be a professional cricketer?
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is known for his gestures towards his fans both on and off the field and has remained the same post his retirement. Here is yet another example of it:
A young girl named Pathika Bhattacharya went to Biren Roy Road, Behala and stood in front of Dada’s house since 8 AM in the morning. However, considering the craze of Ganguly in Kolkata, no one batted an eye on the girl.
But she started crying after 1PM in the afternoon and a lady from Ganguly’s office brought the incident to the notice of Dada.
Ganguly came to know the young girl is from Bishnupur, which is approximately 157 km away from his place and immediately asked the lady to bring the girl in.
Pathika Bhattacharya, a student of Economics Honours at Bishnupur Saradamayi Mahila Vidyapith, came to visit Dada as she had planned a surprise for her boyfriend Arghyadeep Mukherjee on Valentine’s day. Being one of the most ardent fans of Sourav Ganguly, Arghya collects everything about Dada and has even made his room a photo museum.
Pathika came with a bat, an Atletico de Kolkata jersey, autograph pad etc. to Sourav Ganguly, who is like “God” to her boyfriend Arghya. However, Arghya had failed to reach Dada’s place as he suffered from high fever and Pathika was keen to surprise her boyfriend with this gift.
She finally managed to get the autographs, selfies and also recorded a video message with Dada for her valentine Arghya.
Speaking after the meeting with Sourav Ganguly, Pathika said:
“I was never a sports-freak, so I had hardly any clue about the idol and love of my boyfriend. But the moment I spent with him, I felt it would remain in the canvas of my inward eye for ever. It was indeed special.”
Arghya, who was clearly surprised by the gift, had no words to express his joy and thanked Pathika by saying:
“This one is perhaps the most beautiful and memorable Valentine’s Day ever in my life. I’m still thrilled in utter disbelief! This is something which I will cherish for the years to come. Thank you Pathika.”
