Trevor Hohns Appointed Full-Time Australia's Chairman Of Selectors 1

Cricket Australia (CA) have retained the old selection panel comprising Trevor Hohns, Greg Chappell, Mark Waugh and head coach Darren Lehmann, the board confirmed on Friday.

Trevor Hohns, who replaced Rod Marsh as the interim selector last year, will now perform the duties on a full-time basis. There has been a bit of rejig in the duties as now Hohns, Chappell and Lehmann will select the Test and ODI squad whereas Waugh – along with Lehmann – will select the T20I team.

“It’s certainly exciting and going to be challenging going forward for us,” said Hohns, who is contracted until February 2020.

“I think it certainly makes sense to separate the T20 format of the game from the others because we are, in effect, trying to increase our performance in that format and also our ranking … so it does make sense to have a little bit of a split panel in that area.”

“We obviously knew a fair bit about (the Adelaide debutants) and we have all watched a lot of interstate cricket over the last few years so we did know a bit about them,” “Of course when we made the decision to make several changes it was a little bit unknown, everyone accepts that, but sometimes when you give people the opportunity some grab it and some don’t.

“It just so happens a couple of them have really grabbed it and done very well for us,” added Hohns.

Trevor Hohns has previously served as a national selector from 1993 to 2006, including 10 years as a chairman of the panel. Chappell too has had a taste of the same as the former Australian all-rounder was the selector in 1984, before being re-appointed in 2010.
