Alastair Cook led from the front in the desert heat of UAE against Pakistan in the first test. Responding to Pakistan’s monumental 523-8, Cook led England’s solid reply against the spirited Pakistani bowlers. Cook opened the innings with Moeen Ali and looked completely fluent from the word go. In conditions too cumbersome for the English batsman, Cook ensured that his side was in a comfortable position. Battling all odds, Cook got to his 28th test ton in style.
