The 2019 General Election is round the corner and all the political parties are gearing up for the premier event of the biggest democracy of the world. Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who recently joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a jibe at former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah for demanding a separate Prime Minister and President.
Meanwhile, J&K has been the heart of political debate whenever an election time arrives in the country. Recently, Omar Abdullah said that they will press for the demands of separate Prime Minister and a President if there are attempts to tinker with Article 35A. Meanwhile, the article empowers the state to decide who are permanent residents and can have special land ownership in the state. Gambhir is likely to step into the battlefield of election from a BJP ticket and is looking to increase his legitimacy among the people.
Gambhir takes a jibe on Abdullah
The former cricketer took a nationalist approach and made irrelevant comments of Omar Abdullah. So much so, he even asked the former chief minister to go to Pakistan, a common quote used by the ruling party to people who stands against them. However, it didn’t go well with Omar Abdullah and he asked Gautam Gambhir to stick to the things he knows the best.
Abdullah even asked Gambhir to concentrate more on the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) pointing that this is where he belongs to. The President of Jammu and Kashmir National Congress also mentioned that cricketer has no knowledge of the history of Jammu and Kashmir and the role of JKNC in shaping that history. Omar Abdullah has been a critique of the Narendra Modi Government and their policies for Kashmir throughout the regime.
The former cricketer, who is active on social media received a good bashing on Twitter as people critiqued the shallowness of his knowledge. Many also mentioned that Gautam Gambhir is only doing this for political benefits.

I gather you decide who stays in India & who leaves! What a sick, twisted, perverted mind. Oh wait, you don’t actually know how to formulate an argument. Perhaps you need to keep in mind that ‘silence is golden’.
