Twitter reaction: Twitterati destroy Greg Chappell 1

The period between 2005 and 2007 saw one of the most turbulent phases in the Indian cricket history. Former Australian player Greg Chappell, who was India’s coach during that period  shared a torrid relationship with Sourav Ganguly during those two  years , a time when one of India’s most successful captains was stripped of the captaincy.

A few days ago, Sourav Ganguly  conceded that he had made a mistake in 2005 by recommending  Greg Chappell’s name for the post of team India’s coach.

Greg Chappell has now hit out at Sourav Ganguly, one of the advisors for BCCI, who helped pick the coach.

“Indian cricket has never reached the heights that it should because it has relied too much on natural ability and flair rather than diligent preparation. Too often in the past, Indian teams have tried to take short-cuts rather than work hard so any success has been fleeting.

It was something that I was appointed to change, but it needed key players, not least of all the captain, to buy-in and lead by example. Sadly, this didn’t happen until Dravid was appointed and the next 12 months brought some consistent success because of the change at the top,” he wrote in The Hindu.

Twitterati were not very pleased with Chappell’s comments and absolutely destroyed him.
