South Africa set a formidable total of 438 for 4 in the fifth and final ODI of the ‘Freedom Series’ at Wankhede, Mumbai. Three batsmen scored hundred. Opener Quinton de Kock was the first batsman to score a brilliant hundred in the match. After Amla’s early departure, Faf du Plessis joined Kock. In the second wicket partnership between Kock and Du Plessis built a 154 run partnership.
When De Kock departed in the 27th over. AB de Villiers started landing the Indian bowlers out of the park. De Villiers and Faf du Plessis added 164 runs in 102 balls.
Faf du Plessis scored his 4th ODI hundred. But the right-hander wrecked havoc on Indian bowlers. after completing his hundred. Owing to sultry Mumbai weather he suffered a right leg cramp. But he continued batting and blasted Indian bowlers along with de Villiers. Du Plessis finally retired hurt scoring an 115 ball 133.
However, Indian bowlers faced the wrath of AB de Villiers in the death over. De Villiers’s sprinkled four sixes around the park on the way to his 57 ball hundred. De Villiers storm was stopped by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in 46.4 over. David Millier gave South Africa last minute surge. Among the Indian bowler Buvneshwar Kumar conceded 106.
