Is Virat Kohli bigger than Indian cricket?
Can the captain choose his favourite coach?
Has the power-play robbed India of a capable coach?
The above-mentioned questions are just a few examples of what’s going inside the minds of the Indian cricket fans after Anil Kumble ’s decision to resign from the role of Head Coach. This move has sparked an intense debate on the social media.
And, consequently, #KohlistumpsKumble is trending on Twitter at the moment.
The controversy began brewing after a tiff between Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli was first reported last month just before the start of the Champions Trophy. Kohli and some senior players apparently had issues with Anil Kumble’s working styles and conduct.
The fact that Kumble wouldn’t be getting a contract extension became crystal clear after the BCCI invited applications for the role of the new BCCI coach.
The original one-year contract was slated to end after the conclusion of the Champions Trophy 2017 and fans expected BCCI to give him a contract extension but that is very unlikely to happen under current circumstances.
His track record as the coach was very satisfying. Under is watchful eyes, India scripted wins over West Indies in their own backyard before starting a reign of domination at home with series wins over New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia.
Former India batsman, Virender Sehwag, has applied for the position of the head coach and is currently the front runner for the job.
Australian Tom Moody and Englishman Richard Pybus, who has coached Pakistan earlier are the other notable names likely to stake their claim. Former fast bowler Dodda Ganesh and former India A coach Lalchand Rajput have also applied for the top role in the Indian coaching set-up.
Fair to say, Kumble is graceful enough to put all the blame directly on Kohli. Point blank! ?

Virat Kohli is treating Anil Kumble like a shit, that's disgusting, he should keep his big ego aside and respect the legend.

Don't know whom to support between Kohli and Anil Kumble, one of them should say something about Modi to make it easier for public to decide

Time for our Supreme Court to bowl BCCI a flipper & have Anil Kumble in the CoA team! That way he indirectly becomes everyone's boss!
