Twitter reacts as Bangladesh register their first Test victory over England
Oct 30, 2016 at 5:19 PM
Riding on young spinner Mehedi Hasan’s brilliant performance, Bangladesh stunned England by winning the second Test by 108 runs to level the two-match series.
Chasing a tricky target of 273 runs, the England camp started brilliantly after their openers – Alastair Cook and Ben Duckett added 100 runs for the first wicket. The visitors were looking on course for another win but Duckett’s dismissal opened the floodgates as from 100 for no loss, England were reduced to 127 for 5. The rot did not stop there as the visitors kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and were finally dismissed for 164 runs, handing Bangladesh a historic win. ย Hasan Mehedi, who had claimed six wickets in the first innings, once again starred with the red cherry by dismissing six English batsmen. It was the 18-year old’s third five-wicket haul in only his second Test. Alastair Cook fought a lone battle and was the top scorer for the visitors with 72 runs.
As expected, the Twitterati went crazy after the match. Here are some of the best reactions:
All over. Shambles by England but huge credit to Bangladesh for a magnificent, historic win. Congrats @CuddyWalsh. #banvseng

Only the second time Bangladesh have won a Test in 3 days. The only other such win was vs Zimbabwe at Mirpur in 2014 (by 3 wkts). #BanvsEng

This is a meltdown, but don't take Bangladesh lightly. Bangladesh is good enough to beat most at home even in Test.
