Twitter Reacts As Ravi Shastri Applies For Team India Head Coach's Post 1

Ravi Shastri applying for Team India head coach’s post has caused quite a stir among the cricket fans. The former India international was one of the strong contenders to bag the same role when the BCCI was looking for a new coach. Prior to applying for the coach’s role in 2016, Shastri was the director of the team between 2014 and 2016 and had enjoyed a good spell. Under him,  India made it to semi-finals of successive global events – the 2015 World Cup and the 2016 World T20 and also reached the No. 1 spot in Test rankings. During his tenure, India had also won their first limited-overs bilateral series in Australia, whitewashing the hosts 3-0 in a T20I series.

However, the Cricket Advisory Committee, comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, decided to select Anil Kumble ahead of Shastri. It has also led to a war of words between Shastri and Ganguly. But the episode is a talk of past now and Shastri is now again tipped by many to bag the high-profile job. Moreover, the fact that captain Virat Kohli likes Shastri is quite well documented and it might give the 55-year old a big advantage over the other candidates.
