Riding on a brilliant 107-run partnership between Asghar Stanikzai and Mohammad Nabi, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh in the second One-Day International (ODI) by 2 wickets to level the three-match series 1-1.
The visitors came agonisingly close to defeating Bangladesh in the first ODI but a late collapse saw them eventually falling short by 7 runs. They were once again in danger of undoing the good work done by their bowlers but their lower order held on to register a memorable win.
Earlier, Afghanistan skipper Asghar Stanikzai won the toss and decided to bowl first. His bowlers justified his decision by dismissing the hosts for only 208. In reply, Afghanistan started poorly and were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 63 for 4. However, a century stand between captain Stanikzai (57) and Nabi (49) took them close to victory. But the dismissal of both the batsmen inside four runs once again brought back the memories of the first ODI. However, their tailenders held on to win the match with 2 balls remaining.

Great win by Afghanistan. Pertinent to mention here that last year Bangladesh had series wins vs Pakistan, India & South Africa at home.
