Hardly six months post-Pakistan’s famous win over India in the Champions Trophy 2017 finals, the upcoming youngsters within the Indian under-19 circuit took it upon themselves to extract sweet revenge of the humiliating loss in England.
Pakistan U19 team faced a ruthless Indian team in the semi-finals of the ICC U19 World Cup in Christchurch. Indians had been clinical on their road to the semi-finals of the coveted tournament by beating every team they had faced comprehensively.
The team led by teen prodigy, Prithvi Shaw and mentored by the Wall of Indian Cricket, Rahul Dravid, carried on their brutal form, as they defeated their arch-rivals by a massive margin of 203 runs.
Indians won the toss and elected to bat first before Shaw, and Manjot Kalra made full use of the numerous lives provided to them via missed run-out opportunities and catches, thereby, forming a substantial opening stand which put the boys in green on the backfoot early on.
It was Shubman Gill’s willow which wrecked havoc within the Pakistani camp, as he smashed an unbeaten knock of 102 while carrying on his good form in the tournament where he had already amassed a whopping 341 runs at a ridiculous average of 170.5 and strike rate of 107.

Interestingly, Gill brought up his ton thanks to yet another dropped catch in the deep at long-off which symbolised Pakistan’s sloppiness in the field. With their backs against the wall, Pakistan U19 team had to chase down a challenging total of 273 to book a place into the finals of the multi-lateral tournament.
It was now the turn of Indian bowlers to cause wreckage into the Pakistani dressing room. The pace triplet of the Indian U19 team by the names of Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi and Ishan Porel held up to their reputation for hitting the 140 kmph mark consistently, as the Pakistani batting line up had no answer to the Indian attack up front.
It was Ishan Porel who had a field day at the office, as he picked up a four-wicket haul, blowing away Pak’s top order, and conceded only 17 runs to his spell.
Nagarkoti and Mavi boasted an economy of 1.4 and 1.5, respectively as they were at their miserly best, applying relentless pressure to the hapless Pakistan U19 team.

The two slower bowlers Riyan Parag and Shiva Singh enjoyed the spoils, as they picked up a couple of wickets each. Ankush Roy and Abhishek Sharma completed the formalities by picking up a wicket each, as their arch-rivals were bundled out in 30 overs for 69 runs, much to the amusement of Twittersphere.
No prizes for guessing, the Indian contingent on Twitter roasted the Pakistanis after the humiliating loss. Let us look at some of the hilarious reactions from the semi-final encounter.
