Middle-order batsman Umar Akmal has made a comeback to the Pakistan T20 squad for the series against West Indies in UAE. The experienced batsman was left out of the squad for the England tour after a string of poor performances but he made a strong case for himself by performing brilliantly in the on-going Pakistan National T20 Cup. The right-handed batsman has so far scored 352 runs in five matches at an astonishing average of 152.
Rumman Raees, who was selected for World T20 earlier this year but could not play due to an injury, has been given another chance to don the Pakistan jersey. Saad Nasim, who last played a T20I for Pakistan in 2014, has also been recalled to the squad.
Meanwhile, uncapped batsman Amad Butt, who was a part of the Pakistan squad that defeated England in the one-off T20I, has been dropped from the fifteen man squad that was announced today (September 9).
Pakistan’s 3 match T20I series against the World T20 champions will start with back to back fixtures at the Dubai Cricket Stadium on the 23rd and 24th of September. The last and the third T20 will be played on September 27th in Abu Dhabi.
