The ongoing crisis between Cricket Australia (CA) and the Australia Cricketers Association(ACA) met with a dead end. With the deadline for negotiations coming close on the midnight of 1st July, effectively, all Australian cricketers now are rendered unemployed. The board has been extremely stubborn and adamant on not negotiating with the players and considering their words. This has meant that the crisis currently is in a position of stalemate and the team’s further commitments under the scanner.
Several former cricketers like Shane Watson have openly criticized CA for its high-handed approach and not getting flexible with the players. With his contract currently null and void, Australian batsman Usman Khawaja was all in mood for some fun as he took digs at his own self.
The southpaw, posted an image on his Facebook page, of applying for employment at a job-related portal. Though the situation out here is extremely serious, it was humorous of Khawaja to take a dig at his own expense.

Speaking on the matter, ACA President Greg Dyer lashed out against CA for not listening to the thoughts of the players. Refusing offers of flexibility and to attend mediation says a lot,” Dyer said. “As does the refusal of the CA CEO to be involved. It says they weren’t fair dinkum. It has been a case of divide and rule from the start, and when that failed the threats started and haven’t stopped. All of which has failed.”
“It’s quite incredible. Reasonable young men and women have been set upon by their employer with tactics not seen before in Australian sport. So, given they will be unemployed, the players have to consider how best to respond.”
