Indian speedster Varun Aaron has signed up a fresh deal with English County cricket club Leicestershire for the early part of the summer season.
With the beginning of the year 2018, Leicestershire also picked Pakistan fast bowler Sohail Khan. But the back injury forced the management of Foxes — to look out for the abled replacement.
Regarding the latest signing, the chief coach Paul Nixon of Leicestershire is happy to pick Aaron for the 50-over world as well apart from the long-format competition.
“We are delighted to secure his signature for both Specsavers County Championship games and fixtures in the Royal London One-Day Cup,” Nixon further said.
The 28-year-old bowler Aaron is known for his sheer pace, and the wickets in England would further test his ability.
“We are getting a genuinely quick bowler in Varun, who has played a number of games for India and also enjoyed a fine domestic career,” Nixon said in a release.
The former England cricketer Nixon also lavished praises on Aaron while believing in latter — to make most out of his early stint of the county cricket.
“Varun is a high-quality performer and his skills will be ideally suited to early season conditions in England,” Nixon added..
In January, Aaron went unsold in the mega two-day long Indian Premier League (IPL) auction on January 27 and 28 respectively in Bengaluru respectively. However, he stands now a grand opportunity to impress selectors in the United Kingdom.
“Playing county cricket presents me with a great opportunity to showcase my skills. I’m looking forward to taking wickets and contributing to the success of the team,” Aaron stated.
The signing came as Pakistan fast-bowler Mohammad Abbas is bound to represent Pakistan for the international matches.
Pakistan will face off Ireland and Scotland as well as England owing to their slated schedule.
However, the 28-year-old Punjab-based Abbas, who claimed 23 wickets in five Tests for Pakistan will be available for Leicestershire. He is expected to feature against Sussex on April 20.
There on, Aaron will replace him for the Division Two fixtures of the first-class and 50-over cricket respectively.
“I am relishing the opportunity to join the Foxes for the first part of the season,” Aaron said on his stint.
Varun Aaron became fourth Indian international this year (2018) to represent distinct teams in the county cricket.
The other confirmed list of players includes Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Delhi-based pacer Ishant Sharma.
Concluding, Team India skipper Virat Kohli is also said to be tasting the county stint.
