Varun Aaron to lead Jharkhand in Ranji trophy

The discarded Indian fast bowler, Varun Aaron, has been appointed as the captain of the Jharkhand Ranji Trophy squad for the upcoming domestic season. Jharkhand will kick off their Ranji trophy campaign against Maharashtra at the Karnail Singh stadium, Delhi.

The 15 member squad includes players like Saurabh Tiwary, Shahbaz Nadeem, Under 19 captain Ishan Kishan, Ishan Jaggi and Virat Singh as well.  The Delhi all-rounder, Pratyush Singh, who migrated from Delhi to Jharkhand, has also been included in the squad. He has been part of Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils in past. The Delhi all-rounder has led junior teams at every stage which also includes leading the junior zones team as well.

Jharkhand Ranji Trophy team had a dream run last year as they qualified for the quarter-final stage of the tournament before losing out to the ultimate champions Mumbai in the knockout game. They will surely like to emulate their last year’s performance this year as well.

Jharkhand team will be looking to bank the experience of their senior players as last year the senior players were key to success. Shahbaz Nadeem was the highest wicket-taker in Ranji trophy with 51 wickets to his name. Captain will be hoping for the same performance from his players so as to have a successful run in the season.

This year BCCI has introduced a concept of neutral venues according to which a team will play all the group stages matches at different venues with none of the match being played at their home ground.

Jharkhand squad is as follows –

Following are the team: Varon Aaron (Captain), Ishan Kishan, S P Gautam, Anand Singh, Virat Singh, Ishan Jaggi, Saurabh Tiwari, Pratyush Singh, Kaushal Singh, Ajay Yadav, Vikash Singh, Ashish Kumar, Samar Quadri, Shahbaz Nadeem, Sunny Gupta.
