Modern cricket has certainly changed the course of cricket played all around the world. MS Dhoni anticipating a delivery and spreading his right leg towards the direction of the ball – even before batsman has hit it. Cricket has taught a lot to the cricketers, that now a player can even anticipate that what can happen in future.
One of the incidents happened when Alastair Cook showed his skills when he caught a ball, despite he was busy talking to someone with his blindsides towards the ball. Here is the video of the incident –
This video clearly shows that the former England skipper was busy giving an interview when few people were practising on the side where Cook was standing. Whilst the talk, Cook though was super attentive what was going around him and as soon as the ball arrived towards the person standing alongside him, Cook anticipated that ball might hit him and from nowhere, he pouched the ball. Had Cook not caught the ball, it could have hit that person.
There was everything special about that catch as first of all, he was busy talking to the person and skills of Cook to concentrate on two things at the same time was the best thing about it. The second was the timing. Just like his batting, Cook timed the catch to perfection, with just one hand, that too a strange one as he had to bring is hand from up to down, which makes it difficult automatically and mind you, Cook is right -handed when it comes to throwing the ball.
So, in short, Cook pulled off the catch of the year, which he himself might find it difficult to repeat if asked again.
