Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is known for having an extremely head on his shoulder. Captain Cool, as he is known, rarely shows emotions on the cricket field but sometimes the situations get out of hand and even the calmest of man loses his cool. One such incident happened when India were playing against Australia in 2009 at Nagpur.
After losing the first match of the series, the Indian team was under pressure and their situation became worse when they lost three wickets with only 97 on the board in the second ODI. After the fall of third wicket, Dhoni came to crease and was welcomed by a venomous bouncer by Ben Hilfenhaus. The ball crashed dangerously against the back side of Dhoni’s helmet. Dhoni failed to read the line of the ball and turned his head away. But the Indian skipper did not show any reaction and took a single from the resulting bye.
But he lost his after being involved in a mishap with Mitchell Johnson. After playing a ball from the pacer towards cover, Dhoni tried to take a quick single. But he collided with Johnson at the other end and stumbled into the crease. In the meantime, Ricky Ponting who was standing at covers took a shy at the non-striker’s end but missed the stumps. It was really close.Dhoni was not happy with Johnson and was seen giving an angry stare towards the bowler. But Dhoni channelised that anger to play a brilliant innings. He scored 124 off only 107 balls to take India’s total to 354. In reply, the visitors could score only 255 and lost the match by 99 runs.
