Imran Tahir delighted after record bowling spell

After a convincing victory in the fifth ODI against Australia, South Africa have simply peaked as an ODI unit. The Proteas were just too good for the Aussies in the five-match series as they whitewashed them 5-0, with the last win coming at Cape Town. After posting a daunting total of 327 on board, Australia were never really in the chase. David Warner’s epic knock of 173 went in vain as the southpaw didn’t find any support from the other batsmen.

An interesting episode occurred in the game last evening as there was a clear altercation between South African spinner Imran Tahir and a few Australian players. Tahir and Warner exchanged a few words while the latter stood at the non-striker’s end. The umpire had to intervene in order to separate the two.

In between overs though, when Australian bowler John Hastings, serving refreshments came on the ground, he had something to say to Tahir, which definitely didn’t go down too well with the senior spinner. Below, is the video of that altercation.

South African skipper Faf du Plessis was delighted with the win and hailed Tahir for his performance. “He wears his heart on his sleeve. He loves doing well. I haven’t seen him like that but it just shows how badly he wanted to win the game,” du Plessis said. “He realised David Warner was playing a great knock and he had to try and get under his skin. They had a few words.” “He is an absolute gun,” du Plessis added. “He is the reason we are where we are in one-day cricket. He is a competitor, he wants to win games and he wanted to show everyone that he is still our No.1 which he is. He is my banker.”
