Video: Bangladeshi Fielders Make Meal Of An Easy Run-Out Chance
When you play against the world No. 1 team, that too in their backyard, you know you’ll have to make every chance count to get a good result. And when you are ranked ninth in the world, it becomes absolutely necessary to grab every small chance that comes your way to push your fancied opponents on backfoot.
However, Bangladesh committed a huge blunder in the ongoing Test against India that might come back to haunt them. Mushfiqur Rahim’s men made a dream start to their first-ever Test match in India when Taskin Ahmed dismissed KL Rahul in the very first over of the match and had the chance to pile more pressure on the hosts when they got a chance to effect a run-out when the score was only 67.
The incident happened in the 19th over of the innings, when Murali Vijay tucked a Mehedi Hasan delivery towards the leg side. And as soon as Vijay hit the ball, his partner Cheteshwar Pujara started running only to see Kamrul Rabbi stopping the ball inside the 30-yard circle with a diving save. On the other hand, Vijay was waiting for the ball to cross the fielder but in the meantime, Pujara was standing with him at the same end, offering the visitors a great chance to take another wicket. However, Rabbi undid all his good work with a poor throw that allowed Pujara to get back into the crease.
Here is a clip of that missed run-out chase:
