After a decent performance with the bat, India are in cruise control in the Kolkata Test due to some mesmerizing bowling by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
India who worked hard to score runs eventually got all-out for 316 on Day 2. However, the swing magic of Bhuvneshwar Kumar has pulled the match back into India’s favor as he managed to pick up a five-wicket haul at the end of Day 2.
The swing bowler has bowled a mere 10 overs but has managed to pick up five wickets in one of the best swing bowling performances in the subcontinent in the recent years. He finished the day with the figures 10-0-33-5 as New Zealand were reduced to 128/7 at the end of day’s play and are still trailing by a massive 188 runs.
The 26-year old has been in fine form in the recent months as he came back strongly after falling down in the pecking order in the T20 side below Jasprit Bumrah and Ashish Nehra.
He has been phenomenal in IPL as he helped Sun Risers Hyderabad to clinch their maiden IPL title earlier this summer. He has then taken that form to the Indian team as Virat Kohli has a seriously great talent at his disposal.
Eden known for its assistance to spinners historically and considering the form of Indian spinners, many thought it would be another Ashwin or Jadeja show at Eden Gardens. But Bhuvneshwar has turned the tables with his top-class swing bowling.
