Some concluded that old grudges never fade away after watching a video that went viral on social media that shows Gautam Gambhir not shaking hands with Dhoni at the end of their Vijay Hazare Trophy match.
The 2nd Quarter Final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy was underway. Delhi was in a commanding position, needing just 1 wicket to win while opposition Jharkhand had to chase down 99 runs more to advance to the next stage. As expected, Delhi bowled out the other team at 126/10 and beat Jharkhand by 99 runs while MS Dhoni remained unbeaten at 70.
What followed was something being termed as controversial. All players started congratulating each other and initiated the “well-played” handshakes all around. While both batsmen were shaking hands with all players from the opposition, Gambhir was shaking hands with his own teammates first.
Fans are blaming it at Gambhir’s rude behavior or his ego that he ignored or didn’t see Dhoni when the limited-overs captain put his hand forward to shake hands with the Delhi captain. Not happy with the ignorance or rude behavior, MS Dhoni started leaving the field, while shaking hands with everyone else.
It still remains to be adjudged by the fans and the people themselves on whether, Gambhir didn’t actually notice Dhoni or deliberately didn’t shake hands with the Indian captain due to some earlier grudges, the left-handed batsman holds.
It’s been more than a year since Gautam Gambhir returned to the International Circuit. His last appearance for India remains to be on August 15, 2014, when India played England at the Oval in a Test match.
