Gautam Gambhir has shown a pure act of slackness during the quaterfinal match between Delhi and Jharkhand. At the Chinnaswamy Stadium of Bangalore captain Gambhir scored only 20 runs.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan’s lean patch also continued in domestic cricket. The lefthanded batsman managed just 27 runs before caught behind off Ankit Dabas.

When Gambhir came to bat Delhi were 61 for 2 in 17.2 overs. A partnership was needed to shape Delhi’s innings in this crucial knockout match of the Vijay Hajare Trophy. But, the captain probably forgot that it is a competeteive match.

He was taking a single pushing the ball in the third man cordon. He did not think the fielder S Nadeem has given a shocker to Gambhir as he utilised the Gambhir absence of mind. Nadeem threw the ball from the sqaree leg. When the bail grounded Jharkhand players started celebrating Gambhir has no option but to feel sad.

This match is also played by MS Dhoni. Gambhir’s wicket affected Delhi’s innings as their middle order collapsed.

Delhi lost their middle order for 9 runs.

However, Nitish Rana played 44 run innings that helped Delhi to cross 200 runs score.

For Jharkhand, captain Varun Aarun and Ankit Dabas took two wicktes each while Rahul Shukla took three wicktes.

But, lower order batsman of Delhi Pawan Negi played some lusty shots late in the innings. He scored 37 runs off 16 balls.
