The out-of-favour Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir has taken a dig at his former teammate and opening partner Virender Sehwag by posting a video compilation on Twitter in support of Gurmehar Kaur on whom Sehwag mocked by posting a photograph on his Twitter account with a placard which stated: ‘I didn’t score two triple centuries, my bat did.’
“The freedom of expression is absolute and equal for all! High time we learnt that and practised it daily in every sphere of life,” Gambhir’s posted a Tweet with a 1-minute four second video compilation.

However, Sehwag later changed the guard and cleared the air by saying Gurmerhar has ‘right to express her views’.
Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam has expressed everyone is entitled to have their opinions in a free country.
“Gurmehar is entitled to her opinion just as every other citizen is. If a daughter who lost her father puts up posts about the horrors of war with the intention of achieving peace, she has all the right to,” the video capsule reads.
The left-handed batsman Gambhir on Wednesday has come in full support of the 20-year-old Delhi University Gurmehar, who lost her father in a war by saying ‘mocking her [Gurmehar] is despicable’.
“Everyone may or may not agree with it but mocking her for it is despicable,” the 35-year-old Gambhir posted in a video.
Earlier, Gurmehar was bullied over her views she posted on her Twitter handle before it embroiled in a controversy as several Indian athletes took to the microblogging site to post their opinions.
The Delhi-born batsman Gambhir has played 147 One-day Internationals, 58 Tests and 37 Twenty20 Internationals so far since making his international debut in 2003.
“I have utmost respect for Indian army. Their service to the nation and all of us is unmatched. However, the recent events have left me with a sense of disappointment,” the video further reads which goes by the hashtag ‘GautiSpeaks’.
