India A’s tour of Australia began on a disastrous note as the men in blue were rolled over for a paltry 55, in their first game of the quadrangular series. The India A batsmen displayed no resistance what so ever, and were completely clueless against the Australian seamers. The game played at the Tony Ireland Stadium, witnessed an utter Indian demolition as an experienced side was no match for the hosts.
The openers began on a disastrous note as right-hander Karun Nair made his way back to the pavilion first. Soon, number three batsman and Punjab star Mandeep Singh followed him after being cleaned up. Pacer Chris Tremain had a field day, as the Indian A batsmen were blown away by his accuracy and steam.
Faiz Fazal, who recently made his debut for India and scored an unbeaten half-century against Zimbabwe, perished for three, and it was up to the middle order to resurrect the innings. However, the middle order, comprising of reputed names such as Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, and Sanju Samson could barely manage a thing as they were all dismissed for single digits. All-rounders Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel too disappointed with the bat.
Axar Patel was the lone Indian batsman who could get to double digits. Tremain finished with a well deserved five wicket haul and was the chief architect behind India’s misery. The Australian batsmen lost two wickets, but eventually got to the target in the 18th over.
