Video: India Overturn Umpires Decision After Taking A Successful Review 1

Indian team made most out of the review they took against England when spinner Poonam Yadav trapped England skipper Heather Knight in front of the stumps. It was the first delivery of 17th over that the England skipper tried to sweep but failed to make a connection between the bat and the ball.

Indian players were quick to make an appeal but umpire Shawn George was not impressed at all. Skipper Mithali Raj went up for a review, that proved to be a boon for India and England lost its third wicket.

The replays showed that it was a fair delivery as Yadav’s left foot was well inside the crease. Further, it showed that the ball was going towards the stumps without any deflection. There was spin but not enough which could have moved the ball away from stumps. A clean contact between ball and pad placed ahead of the stumps and the umpire had to revoke his decision. Knight was declared out and England lost its third wicket with a score of 63.

India was expected to dominate in the upcoming overs but England made a comeback when Sarah Taylor and Natalie Sciver shared 83 runs for the fourth wicket. Though a double blow from Jhulan Goswami helped India come back in the game soon.

England were 149/5 at the time of writing the report –
