Video – IPL 2017 – Monstrous Six From AB de Villiers Clears Stadium
The fascinating aspect about the Royal Challengers Bangalore is that they have an array of individuals who are institutes within themselves. The likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers aren’t just batsmen in the shortest form of the game, but monsters – monsters who ruthlessly prey upon the helpless breed of bowlers.
With Gayle and Kohli not participating in the side’s encounter against Kings XI Punjab in Indore, the onus was on the comeback man AB de Villiers to leave an impression.
Not just that, being the fulcrum of the Royal Challengers batting lineup, de Villiers had to resurrect the innings after a few quick wickets dismantled the visitors on a two-paced pitch at Holkar stadium.
After getting his eye in and setting up a base, the South African blazed away in a style that is his trademark. In the last 12 deliveries which he faced, the batting machine went on to score as many as 44 runs, as he ravaged into the Kings XI bowlers.
During the 19th over of Bangalore’s innings, with the otherwise economical Sandeep Sharma bowling, de Villiers had plans of his own. The batting legend went into his beast mode, as he hit back to back gigantic sixes off the Punjab pacer.
The second six was so massive that it cleared the stadium with sheer ease and seemed to be rising despite clearing the distance. The shot was something that only a player of De Villiers’ class could hit.
Below, is the video of that shot.
