Video – Joe Root’s Heartwarming Gesture Towards A Journalist
Ahead of the all important decider at Bengaluru, England batsman Joe Root made a heartwarming gesture towards a veteran journalist. Richard Hobson, a veteran journalist from England, who has been a part of several esteemed institutions and has been around since 1985, was gifted a signed England jersey by Root after the press conference. Hobson is on the verge of retiring from his profession, and such a gentle act by Root is surely going to be a fond memory for the journalist.
Root also made a few noticeable points at the press conference, as England’s batting fulcrum said the umpiring reviews should be a part of T20Is as well. Root was a victim of an absolute howler from umpire Shamshuddin, which tilted the game in India’s favor in the second T20I at Nagpur.
“It was frustrating and there were obviously decisions throughout the game that went against us, which could be crucial,” Root said, about his suggestion to improve the game.
‘”It’s time now for some sort of DRS in Twenty20 cricket. I’d like to think it will be raised by a few different members at the ICC meeting. If it isn’t, then I am not an official of the game. I don’t know what is best for the sport. I am only offering my opinion. I can’t speak on the behalf of rest of world cricket and even for the rest of my team, but you know that’s something I believe in. I am sure there are others who can agree with me.”
