Mahendra Singh Dhoni is undoubtedly the most decorated skipper of the country. After taking the reigns of the team, the wonder boy from Ranchi took India to unprecedented heights in all the formats of the game. Dhoni led India to World Cup triumphs in T20I and 50-overs format as well as took the team to the pinnacle of Test cricket for the first time in its history. Apart from these big moments, he has given his fans uncountable moments to cheer. And his fans have always been keen to know their beloved cricketer’s favourite moment.
And recently, when the Indian cricket star was attending a function, he was once again asked to pick the best moment of his career. However, Dhoni said that it is quite tough for him to pick just one moment after playing for so long.
Dhoni said: “I’ll be slightly partial when I have to pick something like that, also what happens is current memories are always your fresh memories, you tend to pick the ones that happened recently so I tend not to pick instances that I can say ok these were my favourite instances.”
Dhoni began his international career on a poor note when he was run out for a duck on his debut in 2004. However, he made amends for it when he scored a brilliant 148 against Pakistan in only his fifth ODI match.
Talking about that knock, he said: “I exactly don’t know how I felt when I scored 148 against Pakistan. I know I was very excited, I knew if I had not scored in that game there was very good chance that I would have been dropped from the team, it was my fifth game. Now after 10 years or 12 years, it’s very difficult to exactly go to that point and say ok this is what I was feeling.”
“That’s what really makes it slightly difficult to judge ok this is the best moment or not even as a team it’s difficult to pick, 2007 World Cup was there, the CB series was there, the 2011 World Cup was there, the Champions Trophy, going to No. 1 in Test and ODI ranking, personally it’s very difficult it’s like asking a parent which child is better and imagine seriously he has to pick only one then it becomes much more difficult,” captain cool concluded.
