Pakistan team once again proved that they are the most unpredictable side in cricket at present. It was not so long ago when Pakistan batting line-up stood up against Australia for 145 overs in the fourth innings of a Test match and today, they could just survive 53.2 overs gifting the game to Australia. It was a difficult day for Pakistan where every run scored by their batsman seemed like an achievement.
The Australian team, riding on a brilliant team effort on the final day of the game, bamboozled Pakistan and defeated them by a margin of an innings and 18 runs to steal the game away. Effective bowling and fielding effort from Australian players added to the joy, especially the fielders, who were right behind the target, chasing the ball, unlike Pakistan fielders.
On one occasion when Nathan Lyon, who was looking like a spent force in this Test match till now came strongly into the game taking three wickets. His wicket of Asad Shafiq was the highlight of the game as the short leg fielder Peter Handscomb accomplished a virtuoso catch.
Nathan Lyon bowled one on the off-stump which Asad Shafiq tried to play on the on side looking for a couple of runs. He flicked the ball away from him but it did not have any force in it and the ball just travelled till the short leg fielder who grabbed an absolute ripper to dismiss Shafiq.
The ball first hit him on his hand and then travelled to the side of his arm and then came the moment when Handscomb finally pouched the catch to dismiss Asad Shafiq. Handscomb was lucky that the ball did not make any contact with any part of the helmet as in that case, the ball would have been declared as a dead ball. It was a smart catch by Handscomb.
In the end, Australia won the game by a margin of an innings and 18 runs to go up in the series by a margin of 2-0.
