Video: Ravichandran Ashwin becomes the second fastest to 200 Test wickets! 1

2016 has been just a phenomenal year for star Indian all-rounder R. Ashwin. The Tamil Nadu off-spinner was at his supreme best against West Indies in the Caribbean and was duly named the Man of the Series. Ashwin continued from where he left off in the Caribbean, in Kanpur, as he derailed New Zealand’s run chase on the fourth evening.

Needing just three wickets to get to 200 test wickets, the spinner got to the mark in absolutely no time as he took the top 3 wickets. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson became Ashwin’s 200th wicket, as he was trapped plumb in front of the stumps. The ball, pitching outside off, turned viciously and poor Williamson was caught on the back foot. The ball struck him in the middle and would have crashed on to hit the stumps.

The umpire had no hesitation in ruling Williamson out, and that was the milestone for Ashwin. The all-rounder became the second quickest to get to 200 test wickets, as he got to the mark in just his 37th test. Ashwin is second only to Australian legend Clarrie Grimmett, as the latter remains the quickest to 200 test wickets in just 36 tests.

With Ashwin coming to the party, victory isn’t too far for the Indians. Below, is the video, where Ashwin gets to the ultimate milestone by dismissing Kane Williamson.
