Video: From Right To Left, Anil Kumble Delivers Big In Nets Against Virat Kohli And Co
In a half-a-minute video posted on the official twitter handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Indian coach and veteran spinner Anil Kumble was witnessed rolling over his left-arm against Virat Kohli and Co. with a clean action.
However, the slow motion video showed Kumble, who played 132 Tests for India, do everything right but he did not bowl a legitimate delivery as he had crossed the popping crease after bowling a legitimate delivery in the first 10 seconds.
In both the Tests, the hosts struggled against the visitors’ spinners as Kumble himself had an out-of-box idea to deal with the spinners in the remainder of the games, scheduled in Ranchi and Dharamsala.
After the hosts’ batters were found wanting by the Kangaroos spinners, Kumble tried his left-arm to make the national side practice hard – to tackle the left-arm orthodox spinner Steve O’Keefe, who helped Australia tclinch the first Test by the massive margin of 333 runs on a bone-dry raging turner in Pune, where he claimed 12 wickets in the game after conceding 69 runs.
In the second Test, it was off-spinner Nathan Lyon, who picked eight wickets for 50 runs to bundle out for 189.
Virat Kohli-led India then came hard at the Australians to win the Bengaluru Test by 75 runs after a six-star performance from off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as Australia collapsed to 112 after Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane steadied the ship for the hosts in the second innings.
The series is levelled 1-1 so far. The third Test between the both teams is scheduled on March 16 (Thursday).
