Steve Smith

Australian skipper, Steve Smith was at it again, as he pulled off an absolute blinder off a catch to wrap up the three-match Chappell- Hadlee ODI series. Aussie opener David Warner continued his rich vein of form as he amassed yet another century. Warner now is at par with former Indian legend Sourav Ganguly in terms of most ODI centuries in a year and second only to the great Sachin Tendulkar.

Australia didn’t have an ideal start as the Kiwi bowlers struck regularly before Warner and Travis Head steadied the ship. Fighting his way through, Warner went on to score 156 and ensure that the hosts got to a decent score. Ultimately, the total was just too much for New Zealand, as the Australians bowled them out for 147.

The catch was taken by Steve Smith to dismiss Trent Boult was simply brilliant as he flew to his right to wrap up the series. Below, is the video of Smith’s sensational catch.

Post his side’s ODI series win, the New South Wales batsman lauded his side. “We put a complete performance in all three games. “We needed something like this after South Africa,” Smith said. “Guys in the top four going on to get hundreds and bowlers executing the plans. We did the basics right in the series. The three fast bowlers have bowled well in the series and good to see Pat back in the team and performing.”
