Video: Stout Samit Patel lost his balance at the middle of the pitch
Sometimes bad ball can get a wicket for a team. The opponent team can not take the credit when a player gets run out in a bizarre way.
Sports belong to athletes, but some of the stout sports persons filled their form in cricket and got selected for their talents. Though they lack athleticism their skill either with bat or ball can be beneficial for a team. For example, Dwayne Leverock’s stunner at slip in the 2007 West Indies World Cup against India was the epic fielding from the heavy Bermuda spinner. He celebrated the catch of Robin Uthappa with many styles.
We also know Inzamam-ul-Haq for his classical batting. But, the legend is not only known for his batting but also for funny dismissals.
So, Samit Patel has become another example in cricket. This stout English cricketer never imagined something funnier would happen in his cricket career. Samit was playing for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. He did not play a bad shot and none of his opponent players disturbed his running between the wicket. He tried to take a single during a county match between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in 2013.
Patel got run out as the batsman at the non-striking end Jade Dernbach refused to take a single after saying yes for the first time.
For Patel, who reached the halfway mark of the pitch, returning back to the popping crease was the most difficult work of his career. As Dernbach refused Patel tried to return but fell on the pitch. His fall was epic if it was an Olympic athlete it could be the greatest volley. But, Samit Patel’s body was not built like an athlete. So, he lost his balance at the middle of the pitch and floored. Patel was run out. It was a hilarious scene at the pitch. Probably the run out did not give Patel the pain but his fall.
