The stage is set for the Virat Kohli-led Indian side to seal the series in Mumbai. However, they need to be wary about England’s exceptional record at the Wankhede Stadium, as they have been victorious in their previous two tests here in 2006 and 2012 respectively. On both occasions, the Indian batting collapsed like a pack of cards to hand the English comfortable victories. The loss here in 2012 sparked a revival for England, as the visitors went on to win the following game at the Eden Gardens.
Ahead of the game, the Indians were involved in a grueling practice session to ensure all flaws had been ironed out. A victory out here will seal the series for Kohli, who’ll have yet another series triumph to his name. In his brief captaincy career, Kohli has already managed to have an impressive track record as the captain.
From the batting front as well, he has been India’s mainstay. His supreme knock of 167 in Visakhapatnam was quite inspiring as he led from the front with a solid knock. He followed that up with another half century in Mohali in the first innings.
In a video uploaded on BCCI’s official Instagram account, the Indian captain was seen working out on his defense and ensuring that his technique remained absolutely astute. Check out the video below, showing Kohli’s practice session.
At a media briefing, Kohli admitted the break after the third Test had been a good one for India. “With a long season ahead, it did us no harm. It actually helped us rest a bit, reflect on what we have done in the two games that we have won and just visualise again and come back even more fresh compared to last two Test matches. It was good thing that happened and we certainly benefitted from it,” said Kohli.
