There’s is a history of Cricket Stars and Bollywood’s connection which has witnessed professionals falling for each other — to write another script of a colourful chapter in their lives respectively. Similarly, Team India’s skipper Virat Kohli and batting mainstay Virat Kohli opens up about the presence of his girlfriend Anushka Sharma, who is the Bollywood star, as the batsman revealed the celebrated actress has brought more charm to his life as he termed her presence ‘memorable’ on the big occasions.
“What was more beautiful was that, I was able to share it [moments] with Anushka [Sharma]. It was something that I will always remember,” Kohli told sports broadcaster Star Sports.
While talking to Star Sports in a video interview, Kohli stated his lady love Anushka was with him in December 2014, when he was appointed Test skipper for India.
“Surprisingly, when I became the Test captain then also she was in Melbourne with me. That was a very special moment we shared together,” Kohli maintained.
The 28-year-old Kohli is currently leading the defending champions further added he didn’t expect what he has achieved in his life but has always believed the hard work pays off.
“I remember, I was in Mohali and there was a Test series going on. I was with Anushka [Sharma] then; she had come to visit me,” Kohli added.
Interestingly, the batting prodigy Kohli in the 52-second video has further revealed Anushka was with him when Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has elected him limited-overs skipper after Mahendra Singh Dhoni relinquished from the captaincy on January 4.
“During the Mohali, they (BCCI) had spoken to me already. When I hung up the phone and told her, for a minute it was like a flashback,” Kohli asserted.
After going through the sour relations both reconciled and moved ahead as the duo were spotted enjoying vacations. In the recent meeting, both attended former Indian bowler Zaheer Khan’s engagement.
However, the way he stood at the crease to flay the bowlers, Kohli has backed Anushka off-the-field after the actress received the backlash from cricket fanatics when the latter struggled to be among runs.
“From the moment I started playing in my academy till the Mohali game,” Kohli further added.
Termed as a bad ‘omen’ for Kohli way back, the Delhi-born right-handed batsman threw full support to Anushka when her presence drew flak over the social media platforms.
“I was emotional. I was in tears because I had never thought that I will see this day and that come,” added Kohli.
Moreover, Kohli in the past also took to photo-blogging site Instagram – to express his love and gratitude while being active on the social media which further witnessed photos of both the stars in their respective professional field.
Coming to the Men in Blue’s performance, Virat Kohli-led side has qualified for the semi-finals after smashing South Africa by eight wickets while chasing down the target of 192 in 38 overs.
It was Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2013, under whom India lifted the coveted trophy at Edgbaston against hosts England on the Duckworth-Lewis Method.
