Virat Kohli is considered to be the ‘angry young man’ of the Indian cricket team. It doesn’t matter if he is playing for India or his IPL club, he always carries his super-aggressive attitude in the cricket field and doesn’t take any bull**** from anyone. Nobody is spared by him, whether its the rival players, his teammate or the rogue audience. If anyone messes with him or his team, they have to face his wrath. Here are 5 such instances where Virat shows his bada** nature and completely blows away the opposition :
1) Undermining Mitchell Johnson
Mitchell Johnson is undoubtedly one of the fiery fast bowlers in world cricket today who likes to attack the opposition batsmen not only with his lethal deliveries but also with vicious sledging. But one batsmen whom he cannot intimidate is our own Virat Kohli. During the 2011-2012, India’s tour to Australia, Kohli not only responded to Johnson’s aggressiveness with sweet ‘kisses’, he publicly claimed in a press conference that he did not respect Johnson at all! Gutsy and bold, clearly that was nothing less than a slap on Johnson’s face!
2) Scolding Steve Smith
The incident happened during the Test series when India was touring Australia in 2014-2015. Rohit Sharma bowled a delivery to Steve Smith and appealed for a leg before wicket. Umpire Marais Erasmus did not seem much interested in the appeal but Sharma went on enquiring about it. Just then Steve Smith started to poke his nose in the matter by passing his personal comments from his end, which was completely not his business. Then came our Virat Kohli to the scene. He not only scolded Smith to ‘mind his own business’ and ‘know your limits’ , even the non-striker David Warner had to come from the other end of the crease to support his teammate. Finally the square leg umpire had to come up and calm things down. Undoubtedly this remains a rare spectacle where an Australian was being ‘man-handled’ by an Indian, in their own backward. Hats off Virat!
3) Perfect answer to the undisciplined crowd
Indians for long have suffered the abuses from Australian players and crowd. The Australians used to take it for granted that they have the inborn right of abusing the visitors before this particular incident happened. After repeatedly being harassed by the Aussie crowd in the Sydney Test, Virat came up with something unimaginable. He showed his ‘middle finger’ as a sign of protest and retreatment. Although he was fined for this dirty act, it was the perfect answer to an equally abusive crowd! Another audacious and dauntless act from Kohli !
4) Smacking Rubel with curses
It was a ODI match between Bangladesh and India. While Kohli was batting, Bangladesh fast bowler Rubel Hossian tried to sledge him by charging towards him and throwing a few ‘exciting’ words. What Rubel did not know probably with whom was messing. Kohli responded instantly by cursing him with some even more exciting ‘hindi’ words. The expression on Rubel’s face? Priceless!
5) Not even Gauti is spared
All the above incidents were all involving foreign players and audience. This one involves one of Kohlis former Indian and Delhi teammate, Gautam Gambhir. It was during one RCB vs KKR match at the Chinnaswamy stadium during IPL 7. It all happened when Kohli got out and as he was walking towards the pavilion, Gambhir, the opposition skipper came and said something to Kohli. Kohli too retaliated and it took their common Delhi teammate Rajat Bhatia to separate the two hot-headed boys of Indian cricket ! opposition :
