Ever since the home series’ against England commenced on the November 9, team India has been on an absolute roll. The Test series had complete one way traffic, as built upon Virat Kohli’s masterclass, the hosts went on to decimate England 4-0 and set up a perfect crushing series win. The ODI series brought about the emergence of Kedar Jadhav, as India, despite being fiercely tested, won the series 2-1.
The T20I series didn’t begin on an ideal note for the Men in Blue, as a one sided loss wasn’t exactly a morale booster. A narrow escape at Nagpur thanks to pacers Ashish Nehra and Jasprit Bumrah was followed with a crushing 75-run victory at Bengaluru.
Post India’s series victory, skipper Virat Kohli clearly stated experienced campaigners such as Ashish Nehra, Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni had been a source of great help and strength.
“It’s not a bad thing when you have MS Dhoni behind the stumps and experienced guys like Ashu bhai and Yuvi pa. I am new to limited overs cricket and they have been around long before me. I’m taking advice from them whenever possible, they’re so intelligent, a lot of credit goes to them,” Kohli said.
Praising the leg spin duo of Amit Mishra and Yuzuvendra Chahal, Kohli said:
“Having two leg-spinners on a dry wicket, we always knew we would get a few chances. Mishy started it, and then Chahal took five wickets in two overs.
“Mishra’s two overs, and that one over from Jordan to Yuvi, that changed the momentum. It pushed us past 200, and that gave us the psychological advantage.”
Personally though, Kohli didn’t have an ideal series with the bat as he failed to convert his starts. When quizzed by a reporter about his underwhelming numbers as an opener, Kohli had a witty reply in store for the reporter which surely stole the show. Check out the video below to know how Kohli trolled the reporter.
Expect @imVkohli to be witty. Sample this one from the post-match press conference. #INDvENG pic.twitter.com/JytGocbcxo
