Moments before tea on Day 5, India captain Virat Kohli was quick in taking a review after an actual decision taken from the on-field official was overturned by the third umpire. By then, India had already taken nine wickets and appeared itchy to grab the last one.
Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh’s number eleventh batsman, was on strike when Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a full-length delivery, which seemed to have touch the inside edge of the bat initially. The on-field umpire JS Wilson referred to the third umpire and gave a soft signal of out. Much to the hosts’ disappointment, the decision was overturned as the snicko meter showed no edge on the bat.
Immediately after that, the captain showed the umpire an indication to opt for the DRS for LBW, which eventually went in India’s favour as the trajectory showed that the ball would have gone to hit the stumps.
Courtesy his call, India wrapped up Bangladesh’s innings for 250 and won the one-off Test match against Bangladesh by 208 runs.
